Hemis, the Home Kachina
Necklace

Hemis is also called Niman Kachina after the Niman or Home Dance ceremony at which he presides. Only Hemis and their Hemis Mana Kachinas dance in this final ceremony before the Kachinas return to their spirit world. The Hemis and their Manas dance in a double ring rotating slowly in opposite directions. In the periphery children gather whole corn plants which the Kachinas brought, and distribute them and gaily colored presents to the sidelines.
