Tawa is the bearer of warmth, good weather, shelter for the old, and a bright future for the young. In the winter solstice ceremony, which may last up to nine days, the Kachinas return and the sun returns on its way back to summer and the growing season. He is seldom seen in public because their performance of rituals are very sacred and secret, reserved for specific clans of high priesthood leaders. |
